Pure brilliance at The Media Production and Technology Show 2022

MPTS 2022 was the first trade exhibition for the UK broadcast and media industry to take place live, in 3 years, it was a privilege to be there representing Global Broadcast Industry News for the first time.

A spokesperson from MPTS told us “The Media Production and Technology Show 2022 was the biggest and best yet with more visitors, exhibitors, speakers and floor space than ever before!”

It was great to meet friends old and new in a busy two days, here are some of the highlights, we have more to come later in the week .

Symon Roue of Visual Data demonstrated their brand new content operating system to us, VIDA. The new cloud-native SaaS platform streamlines end-to-end media workflows and gives users complete control over their content in a secure, agile and scalable central environment. With an intuitive library interface, users have access to as much storage as needed with the searchability required to capitalise on the growing worldwide media demand.

Zixi, the award-winning architect of the Software- Defined Video Platform (SDVP), showcased how broadcasters and OTT providers can achieve live broadcast-quality video over any IP network, any protocol, any cloud and any edge device. Zixi recently announced its integrations with Starfish, for ad insertion, and with Ssimwave, for for live IP video experience optimisation.

MRMC showcased its range of future-facing robotics and software solutions for broadcasters, with demonstrations of Polymotion Chat, which uses computer vision to track talent and keep them in frame, reducing the costs of dedicated camera operators and augmenting remote workflows. The company also exhibited its PTZ heads including Agile Remote Cameras’ ARC360 and AFC for applications from studio camera robotics to live events and sports.

farmerswife is the leading provider of resource scheduling, project management and team collaboration software for the demanding needs of today’s media industry. At MPTS it showcased its new SaaS task and project management solution and launched the latest v6.8 of the farmerswife tool. Martin Vorley – UK Product Specialist gave a superb demonstration of Cirkus highlighting the power and flexibility of the product.

We caught up  with Patrick Woolcocks at the WorldCast CONNECT stand where they showcased version 4.6 of their innovative Kybio Monitoring & Control platform. With this new version, users uncover new benefits around powerful drivers and new remote-control features, user experience, visualizing insights, and finer analytics.

Signiant exhibited the newest addition to its platform, Media Engine. Media Engine allows its SaaS customers to search, preview and take action on media assets across all their Signiant-connected storage, from anywhere in the world.

IMES exhibited their bespoke archiving and digitisation services, used by some of the most iconic brands in the world, such as Paramount, the Grammy Museum, IMG and The Premier League. Denis Leconte, VP of Technology at IMES, spoke on a panel on the 12th of May about the challenges of long-term media preservation, and why content owners cannot rely solely on the cloud to preserve their legacy.

The Media Production and Technology Show 2022 showed that despite the difficulties of the last two years our industry has continued to innovate and thrive in the face of adversity, over the next few days we will share more of the excellence that was on show.
